This course offers an advanced and structured overview of essential topics in geriatric psychiatry. It focuses on strengthening diagnostic understanding of neurocognitive disorders, emphasizing recognition of core clinical features, differentiation of common subtypes, and interpretation of cognitive, behavioral, and functional changes over time. The course also highlights principles for managing neuropsychiatric symptoms, balancing non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches, and addressing the complexities introduced by comorbidities, polypharmacy, and age-related physiological changes. By completion, learners will be equipped with a deeper, more confident approach to evaluating older adults and developing thoughtful, holistic management plans.
